Attacks on rath yatra in Kotalipara - vandalism-looted

In Gopalganj’s Kotalipara upazila, events of vandalism and looting took place in Jagannathdebhar Rathaatra festival. This incident happened at 9 am on Saturday at the Rathjatra program at Tarashi village under Kotalipara upazila.

Gourango Lal Saha, president of the Rath Yatra Commemoration Committee, filed the case with the Kotalipara Police Station on Saturday night and named 10 people on Saturday night and filed a case with 10/15 unidentified accused.

Police arrested Ashim Halim Sheikh (41) and Haji Liaquat Ali (58) on the night of the case. Senior officials of the district administration and police visited the site.

The activists of Boro Bazar Ghaghar of Sadar upazila of Kotalipara upazila demanded the trial of the incident by closing the business. After the upazila chairman Mujibur Rahman Hawlader assured the fair trial, businessmen opened the business.

According to the case details, religious rituals were going on in Tarsi village on Saturday night, on the occasion of the upside. There were hundreds of fans present there. Mamun Sheikh (22), Masud Sheikh (55), Halim Sheikh (41), Harun Sheikh (50), Hemayet Sheikh (45), Sarafat Hossain (48), Wahab Sheikh (38), Haji Liaquat Ali (9) 58) and Mohin Shaikh (30) accompanied by unknown unidentified 10/15 people gathered in a religious ceremony and suddenly attacked the devotees Narayan Praman, Sharmi Mandal, Dipali Mondal, Mitu Mandal, Shuv Saha, and Border Bala. Besides, Mamun Sheikh took away 1 full weight of gold theft in the left hand of Dipali Mondal. The attackers pondered religious programs by vandalizing 5 chairs. They went on hitting the religious sentiments in a foul language.
